The state of alarm due to excessive air pollution and lethal SO2 concentration is on in Tuzla and Lukavac. The results indicate frequent, fast and drastic increases of pollution during night hours. Although certain measures have been taken including decreased scope of electricity production in the Power Plant, increased control of vehicles in the city, stopping the lessons in school and similar, it is still insufficient. Is that a solution? Definitely not!
Air pollution in BiH has been present for a long time, but lately it is more and more actual issue, particularly in our region, so it is necessary to provide long-tern solutions. Therefore Centre for Development and Support (CRP) by establishing the EFEKT network for environmentally friendly energy in BiH, has approached resolving this issue in a systematic manner.
EFEKT network sees the most efficient mechanism for environment protection and mitigation of climate changes in systematic increase of institutional and planned use of renewable energy sources (RES) and energy efficiency increase (EE), gradually decreasing the use of fossil fuel, primarily coal. Particular emphasis in this is on heating energy and electricity.
Due to the above mentioned, we invite the decision-makers and relevant institutions to constructively contribute to development of environmentally friendly energy sector in BiH, that meets all international obligations accepted within the European Union accession process and Energy Community Treaty regarding the increase of EE and RES and decrease of negative impact of fossil energy to environment, human health and overall socio-economic development. One of the steps towards this direction is passing the Energy Efficiency Law in the Federation of BiH.
Only this way we can change things in BiH because your children as well breathe in the polluted air!!!
