INTERREG project SMART schools

On 12.06.2017 at the congress hall of the Bosnian Cultural Centre in Tuzla, the first meeting of the project team INTERREG crossborder cooperation project „Innovative minds for smart schools“ (SMART schools) was held. The meeting was attended by the representatives of all project partners: Centre for Development and Support, Green Action from Zagreb, Brod-Posavina Country, Tuzla Canton and Brod environmental association from Slavonski Brod.

Some of the topics discussed at the meeting between the project partners were: key provisions of the contract on project implementation, project planning, reporting on implementation of the project activities, as well as eventual risks that could occur during the project implementation.

„SMART schools“ is a crossborder project worth 3,2 million KM, funded within INTERREG IPA CBC programme Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Monte Negro 2014-20120. The implementation team comprises 27 persons who will jointly implement several activities in the crossborder area.

In 27 month of the project implementation, the investments shall be made in energy reconstruction of 7 primary and high schools in the project area (Brod-Posavina County and Tuzla Canton). Those schools are: in Brod-Posavina County: (1) primary school Sibinj; in Tuzla Canton: (2) primary school „Ivan Goran Kovačić” (Gradačac municipality ), (3) Second primary school Srebrenik (Srebrenik municipality), (4) primary school Gornja Tuzla (Tuzla city), (5) primary school Sapna (Sapna municipality), (6) primary school Omazići (Banovići municipality), and (7) Mixed high school Kladanj (Kladanj municipality). Additional project activities include crossborder 4-month competition of primary and high school in the project area about energy saving (utilizing non-investment methods, in fact behavioural changes), and as a reward, in each of two winning schools (one in BPC and another in TC) photovoltaic solar system shall be installed and „solar laboratory“ shall be equipped (to be produced, with the mentorship of the experts from the Centre for Development and Support and Green Action, by students and teachers of the winner schools). Crossborder competition of students-individuals from primary and high school in the project area in IT/technical innovations in the sector of renewable energy sources is also planned, where 20 most successful innovators from Brod-Posavina Country and Tuzla Canton shall have the opportunity to design / technically improve their innovations at 7-day summer youth camp of young innovators to be held in Brod-Posavina County.

After the kick-off meetings between the project partners, we shall start implementing the activities. Some of the first activities to be implemented in the following period are designing the visual identity and preparatory activities for reconstruction of the first school, which is the primary school Kladanj.
